Frequently Asked Questions
-
Glenwood Children's Center welcomes children ages 2–5. We believe these early years are among the most formative, and we design every element of our environment with that in mind.
-
Reggio Emilia is a philosophy of early childhood education rooted in the belief that children are capable, curious, and full of their own ideas. Rather than following a fixed curriculum, we follow the child: letting their interests, questions, and creativity guide what we explore together. Nature, play, and process-based art are at the heart of everything we do.
-
We welcome children at all stages of development, including those who are still working on toilet training. Our teachers approach this milestone with patience and without pressure.
-
Before you can enroll, you must first schedule a tour. If Glenwood feels like the perfect fit for your family, we will give you further instructions on how to enroll after your tour. We use Brightwheel for all of our students.
For more information, you can visit Enrollment & Tours. -
We maintain small, intentional class sizes with a low teacher-to-child ratio so that every child is genuinely known, including their interests, their rhythms, and their way of moving through the world.
We offer a ratio of 1 teacher per every 6 children.

No two days at Glenwood look exactly the same, and that's intentional. Children move between open-ended play, outdoor exploration, process-based art, group gatherings, and rest, all guided by curiosity rather than a rigid schedule.
-
We spend time outdoors, in the garden, and with materials that are meant to be touched, mixed, and explored. We ask our families to send their child every day with 2 changes of clothes, all that they can move and get messy in.
-
Please send your child every day with a snack, a lunch, and a waterbottle. We ask that lunches and snacks be wholesome and free of peanuts. We encourage foods that feel like home: whole and nourishing.
-
Glenwood is a screen-free environment. We believe young children learn best through their hands, their senses, and their relationships (rather than devices).
-
We believe families are essential partners in their child's experience. We send out one weekly newsletter, and any additional communication through Brightwheel as needed. You'll always know what your child has been exploring and how they're doing.
